For over 30 years Betty Burr’s passion has been helping people realize their potential. Betty created Transition Steps Consulting in 2000 as a way to help mature adults get the most out of life and work. She is a trained coach, management consultant and small business owner who has redefined herself several times over the past 40 years and is continuing to do so. Betty is committed to changing the way older people are perceived.  Betty is a state-licensed adult educator, hold an MA in Communication and an MA in Gerontology from San Francisco State University. She coaches individuals and holds small groups in determining the best strategies for having a fulfilling post-career life. She is also a licensed spiritual counselor.

 

To get results for her clients, Betty brings a unique approach to the relationships. She combines the best aspects of consulting– bringing in new information from her business expertise and the best practices of coaching –helping to crystallize a client’s business and life visions and goals. This winning combination has supported her clients in making successful transitions like starting or growing a business, changing careers and planning for retirement. Believing “It’s never too late, but it’s too late not to,” Betty also harnesses the power of web-based assessment and planning tools to support her clients through major transitions.

 

Betty is also the founder and president of NoonTime University, Inc., an on-site corporate training company helping employees and managers get the most out of their work lives and helping companies become more productive. NTU courses cover interpersonal communications, customer service, pre-retirement planning, management skills and administrative assistant training.

 

Before becoming a coach and consultant, Betty spent seven years as Director of Training and Development for Headquarters Companies, a subsidiary of United Technologies Corporation. As Director she concentrated on management development, sales and sales management, employee orientation, and development of administrative staff. She also held major positions during seven years with the Xerox Corporation, including Senior Trainer at Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (PARC).

 

Betty received her formal training as a coach from Coaches Training Institute, Corporate Coach University, New Ventures West and Erickson College.. She is a member of the International Coaches Federation, American Society for Training and Development and Northern California Human Resources Association.  She has taught on the extension faculties of San Francisco and San Jose State Universities, San Mateo College and City College of San Francisco and has been listed in Who’s Who in the West.
